I had a bunch of Soylent 1.5 sitting around and I didn’t know what to do with it. Drinking it was not going to happen. I could only think of one thing to try with it: cake. I wanted to share my recipe in case someone else is looking to try the same.
2 cups Soylent (~1000 calories)
1/2 cup pure whey protein powder (~33 calories)
1/2 to 3/4 cup water
2 tbsp cocoa powder
2 tbsp brown sugar (~35 calories)
2 tbsp semi-sweet chocolate chips (~160 calories)
1 tbsp stevia
1 tsp baking soda
1 large egg (~72 calories)
Bake about 25 minutes at 350F. Makes 2 ~650-calorie mini-loaves packed with vitamins and minerals.
I tried using 2 tbsp of stevia and no sugar. It did not have any sweet flavor to it. I’m not sure if the stevia broke down in the heat or what happened. You could probably leave the stevia out or substitute another sweetener. The idea is to make it just sweet enough to tolerate/enjoy while not adding so much that it disrupts the calorie content or carbs/fat/protein ratio.
I have whey protein powder in the recipe mostly as a substitute for milk.and because I have a bunch left over. I’m sure you could use 1/2 to 1 cup of milk and no water instead of the whey protein.
