Protein and Refractory Period


Another thread reminded me of an article I had read which might be useful for soylent drinkers. Reading through the board, it seems a lot of people are sipping their Soylent throughout the day. Soylent is pretty high in protein and is the most expensive part of the drink. However, drinking it constantly throughout the day might be a very ineffective way to get your protein since it doesn’t allow protein synthesis to enter a refractory period. Well, here, I’ll let a scientist explain:

He writes mostly for people building muscle, but I think footnote number 7 dealing with elderly women means the implications are much more broad.

It might be much better to consume the protein spaced out throughout the day with several hours between doses.
