This could be a really big deal. An incredible amount of the world’s drinkable water goes to agriculture, much of which will never be eaten by people. I imagine with modern technology, we could isolate the gene’s that make his plants salt-tolerant and put them into, if not most plants, at least the ones used for animal feed and industrial products, meaning that all or most of fresh water in areas where it is sparse could go to nourishing the population.
