My three boxes of Soylent Squared arrived just now, and I tore into each box.
Here’s my quick review: They are all absolutely delicious, and different tasting from each other! Plus, they’re Soylent, so that’s great. My one year of being 100% RTD was April 15, so this is a good next step up in expanding my Soylent diet while, maybe, adding in some Veestro or Vite Ramen as a treat on the weekend now that I’m past the critical stage.
They are all chewy, and larger than I thought they would be – because I thought they were more like an inch square, but they’re bigger. Two-to-four bites each. You wouldn’t pop one square in you mouth and easily chew for enjoyment.
Great mouth feel. Excellent texture. You really do feel like you’re eating something with resistance and substance.
Chocolate Brownie: Really chocolatey. Has a Tootsie Roll mouthfeel and a sort of turtle-cluster taste.
Citrus Berry: Bright tasting. Like chewing a Skittles or a Starburst. Same sort of flavor profile.
Salted Caramel: Took my first bite, and said immediately, “Bit-O-Honey” – super-delicious, slightly nutty, more a honey taste to me than caramel.
Is it problematic that the flavor profiles remind me of candy from my childhood? I don’t think so, I’m sure that’s the plan. Taste good, and familiar, while also being super-healthy compared to the traditional taste treat/protein meal bar. Good, right food, doesn’t have to taste terrible!
Soylent Squared is a hit. It delivers. It might be expensive, but so is everything else in the world that is better than what you’re presently eating. Innovation costs money. You have to pay to expand your field of experience.
