If you need to take a digestive enzyme just to tolerate Soylent, then it’s probably not a good idea for you to be drinking it at all. I ended up in the hospital because I had painful bloating that I felt all the way up in my chest and felt like chest tightness. If you are drinking Original, you may be able to try switching to another flavor to see if it is better tolerated, since Original uses an oligosaccharide, which is stated to cause painful bloating and diarrhea at 40+ grams, which if you’re a heavy Soylent drinker it can add up over time since it takes a while to be excreted. I was drinking 5 bottles per day, and one day I just couldn’t take it anymore, even just one bottle got me painfully bloated all day.
Don’t force your body to consume something that it’s telling you it doesn’t want, listen to your body or you will end up in the hospital later. I will be trying out Cacao since it doesn’t contain the oligosaccharide, so maybe that will be better for me, I know some other members have had better experience with non-Original flavors when it comes to bloating and diarrhea, so I am hopeful. Nonetheless, listen to your body before you cause permanent damage. I was devastated to have to give up Soylent (until I try a new flavor), but you need to heed your body’s warning signs. I will update when I try Cacao, hoping that it’s well tolerated compared to Original.
