What ingredients can be ADDED to Soylent to reduce gas (other than Beano)?


Continuing the discussion from The (Un-)Official Fart Thread:

There was a post on the fart thread that got me thinking… In some cases we’ve tried to figure out which ingredient can be removed from Soylent to fix the flatulence issue. Although this is an important long-term question to answer, in the meantime we should see if there’s any commonly-available ingredients that can be added to existing 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2 iterations of Soylent to make it tolerable by those encountering gas problems.

If anyone has encountered success with any specific ingredients, please let me know so I can update this thread with your suggested ingredients.

Here are the most promising suggestions gathered so far:

  • Beano and similar products
  • Rice milk
  • Flax oil
  • Barlean’s greens


I theorized in the other thread that perhaps his new concoction is thicker than just Soylent+water, thereby keeping it in the stomach longer so that the acid can break down the protein and other ingredients more thoroughly. Just thinking out loud here…


I found the chewable Gas Relief tablets from the 99cent store very effective. I’ll check the active ingredients when I get home.
